Cleveland, MS. Own small farm near Booneville, MS

We have cell service with Verizon and haven't had cell service since the storm hit. Been depending on WiFi for cell phone service. Our internet comes from CSpire, which is underground. We haven't had a land line for years. It probably wouldn't have worked anyway because of all the down lines. Lost power sometime after midnight Saturday night/Sunday morning. Ours came back on about 3 pm Sunday afternoon. We have a gas log fireplace so we had heat anyway. Lots of people in this area still without. Went out to visit a couple of church members earlier today. They live about 6 or 7 miles east of town. They had been without electricity since Sunday and it came back on while I was there. The husband is a retired farmer so they are pretty resourceful. The wife sat in her car and let it run while recharging her phone and iPad. They had a propane cooker they used for cooking on the front porch. In town lots of tree limbs and power lines down. Slowly getting things back on line. Roads are somewhat passable. Main roads usually have a couple of ruts cut down to the pavement. MS 8 and US 61 are the main highways here. Walmart has been open at least since Monday. Both Dollar Generals are still closed. Banks, etc are open. Most restaurants are open. Church parking lot is completely iced over. One reason I went out to visit the couple today was to borrow his tractor and blade to scrape off the parking lot so it would melt faster but he sold his blade at an auction last year. I used that rig during our last ice over to clear the lot for a funeral (see pic below). There's another farmer I'll check with on that.

My mom lives on what's left of the family farm up in Prentiss County about halfway between Corinth and Tupelo. They have lots more trees and so lots more power lines down. I think they have less ice on the ground but lots more timber and power line damage. One of my nephews who works for the state health department told me that he heard that a pain TVA transmission line had gone down. That's one of the reasons it's taking so long to get power restored in NE MS.

Here, we have Entergy and Delta Electric. They usually do pretty well at keeping things up and running. The church building is located on the NW side of town and is served by Delta Electric. I don't think it ever lost power.
