Generally now the gen3 antenna is used for non-mobile use and has been free hardware but can be used in a mobile scenario.

The mini has been $400+ for hardware and works somewhat better for mobile use but also stationary.

Home install for either depends on your situation. Clear view of the northern sky is needed.
