West of Mpls MN about 50 miles on Hwy 12 | What little milk we drink/cook with anymore is Fair Life brand which is ultra pasteurized (UHT) and ultra filtered.
Why? Lactose free so that my wife can drink milk again, 50% less sugar, 50% higher protein no matter the amount of fat per serving, and longer refrigerator life than "conventional" and raw milk...even their skim milk taste like conventional whole milk IMO.
We don't usually pay much attention to the cost of groceries anymore in our empty nest years, but it is more expensive. About $5.32/52oz of Fair Life brand whole milk vs about $2.03/64oz for "conventional" whole milk according to the local Walmart website here. |
