I love computers and what they can do for me. I've been into
cnc milling for abut 10 years and really enjoy designing stuff
and seeing the end result via a machine. Kinda like farming.
So my son is building a 48 x 80 heated shed / shop. They
want sewer, water, heat, and electricity.
So I've done all the above several / many time thru out
my 78 years.
Well it cam time to size the furnace, thanks to NAT.
Then came the duct work, sizing, etc.
I tried asking a HVAC guy, and Menards but no dice.
Everyone wanted $$, cann't blame them.
So I have a account using Chat GTB and I thought
why not give it a try.
Long story short not only did it design the duct work,
told me how many registers, size, and where to put them
but I also started giving it details on the building.
Insulation, type of lighting (NAT approved), and so on.
The more info I gave it the more details I got back.
In the end it gave me a bill of material, from Menards
and lighting spacing.
In each session I asked to create a PDF summary of what the
results of our conversation / chat (???) was,
Tucked it in my folder and I'm ready to install stuff next week.
This is only a TINY example of what can be done to help us.
I'm still some what leery but my son and daughter in law thinks
I'm one smart cookie. LOL
I was impressed!!

Edit; I guess the big discovery for me was asking the right
questions, details matter.
ChatGPT was able to give you answers to your questions.
Did ChatGPT give you the right answers to your questions? You don't know because you don't know HVAC. The Menards guy doesn't know because he doesn't know HVAC. Experience won't tell you because you haven't finished the building.
AI is really good at confidently answering questions. It's up to the user to determine whether those answers are correct or not. |
