Really good reason for that lol. I'm sure the sygenta hybrids are flying off the shelves.
Their big selling point with whatever top variety was that they were within 5 bushels of the similar Pioneer variety. We were all like “why pick a variety that’s within 5 bushels when I can pick one that’ll make 5 more”..
Big restructuring going on within Syngenta now. Our site was closed and a few more closed with a ton of people let go at the other research stations. Their trial dept was gutted. There’s no one left at the company now that I knew. All gone. The last one was let go towards the end of November. Bigwigs in the company are all Monsanto leftovers since the big guy in the US for them was a Monsanto guy.
I will say that I won’t badmouth them. I loved my time there. I’m doing a similar job with a nonprofit research farm now and I love it too. If I hadn’t worked at Syngenta I wouldn’t have found the love for the research side of things and still be working 90 hour weeks 7 days a week. I’m doing research for their Crop Protection side now.
