Hi JD, I am curious if your crops will grow differently following a pollinator mix with some legumes vs. following native grasses.

Hi Joel, I'll also be interested in the comp between the 2 fields. The native grass mix field is highly sloped light timber soil surrounded by timber while the pollinator plot is much less sloped with a variable but more prairie type soil. I think having a previous legume will help. I've before asked FSA/NRCS if adding something like sweet clover seed to CRP fields a couple years before bringing back into production would be ok but for the most part the answer is no. I have seen red clover added to CRP via FSA/NRCS do really well for a couple years.
I will miss the purple coneflower of which there were hundreds of plants in this 2 acres go away although I have some in other non crop areas.
