6th Generation Farm - 1/22/2026 20:29 About inputs and costs are to high......and then people say well the land costs should come down........as a Landowner why should I take less than going rent?

"Going rent" is what needs to come down.      Yes, I said that and I don't care if you disagree.

If farmers as a whole can't make money with rents where they are, that's where the shortfall needs to come from, not taxpayers.

Supply and demand are set by the suppliers and users. Here on SW IL they will still stand in line to rent ground for $400 to $500 per acre for ground that is 190 to 220 APH.. The bridge payments will just go to landowner or equipment dealers pockets. As a future landlord I won't take less rent just so a guy can drive a new pickup and new equipment. I don't walk into my financial advisors office and tell him I will take less so they can afford a new african black wood conference room table. Sub $4 corn and sub $10 beans for a year or two will fix many of the problems in ag.
