Took me less than a minute to peg a location in IL ~60 miles south of Chicago.
The answers depend somewhat on size of equipment and whether it needs to be rodent proof. Steel shipping containers are a fairly economical solution for storing small stuff and keep rodents out. Anything longer than 20' is not very practical unless stuff always comes out in the same order it gets put in.
