| Had a Heeler when I was in high school. She was 4 or 5 years old and just new to push hogs and cattle.
Well, I was always doing chores by myself and got her taught to watch the gates. She was excellent, and how I started was by a leash hooked on gate post. I used the same command every time, about a month no leash. After a year she was better than a person.
Just had to put down my 13 yr. old Border Collie/Heeler. He was real good with the sheep, no more beef cows. My main feeding gates are hinged, so all I had to do was unhook gate, get on tractor and say, "watch gate". He would swing gate open and I drive through. Same going out. | |
