North Central Illinois
Not CRP, but perennial forages that had a history of mining from hay and then had been rotationally grazed with bi annual manure application at maintenance level for roughly a decade prior to cropping. My best results have been to kill with shallow tillage in late July or early August and seed a brassica, oat, and field pea mixture in mid August.

Grazing that in October - December and applying poultry manure with a 4-3-2 analysis at a 2 ton rate has grown very satisfactory organic corn. Subsequent crops have done quite well.

I have spring moldboard plowed and planted soybeans and while that can work it is my least favorite option by a long shot.
