Simply put, soybean is a broadleaf plant, while corn and sorghum are narrowleaf (grassy) plants. That’s probably why these herbicides are more effective and less prone to resistance .
There are several of them; I’ll list the active ingredients because they go by different names here:
Cycloxydim
Fluroxypyr (or Fluoxypyr)
Clethodim (Select)
Etc.
Johnsongrass that emerges from seed is not a problem with soil-applied (pre-emergent) herbicides like Dual and similar products, etc.
But Johnsongrass that comes up from rhizomes is basically impossible to eradicate completely.
It’s unfortunate that the only real option is Laudis, which doesn’t actually kill it but suppresses/stops it for about 20 days.
