The 6 wt heifers are likely going to stocker operations this time of year. Platte SD had some 850 lb heifers bring $3600. Those are going to be seeing the breeding pasture.
There are fewer and fewer operators that are willing to calve heifers. It’s likely the limiting factor on expansion.
