You might be heavy on the gain, but that depends on how big your rye gets. With straight cornstalks, you would want to supplement a decent amount of protein for calves. Also, I would not be hauling water unless you think it’s a one year only thing to try it out. If you want to make this part of the program, and be more than the 20 head sometime, develop a water source you don’t have to haul( tile outlet, well, pond, etc.) and put in a good fence around it.
