My Mother-in-law used to wash out zip lock bags, waste not want not. My Mom recycled leftovers in a couple casseroles till we ate it all, like it or not. Dad saved old spark plugs and tried to recycle them after then had dried out for a few years. We had a large light bulb over the work bench in the shop and when it went out he built a halo to hold it up against the threads and it ran for several more years. He would put boots in implement tires that I even wondered if they just needed to stop being used when I was a kid. The Great Depression left quite an impression on them.

Im impressed by the light bulb rescue and the spark plug re-use!
