Idk, I’ve gotten govt money 2 of the last 3 years just for owning cattle in a dry area. But I do understand it isn’t quite as out of control as the crop subsidies. It should all go away as far as I’m concerned and I have both grains and cattle. There’s hardly risk in this business anymore.


But how much money was it?

Last "farm saving" drought assistance we got was enough money to buy a day and a half of hay. Whoop-de-doo!


If people want to fix this mess, USDA and congress need to get big AG's lobbyists out from under their desks and realize we need to put some of these corn and soybean acres back into grass. Less acres of corn and more cattle to eat it would fix it, but that's a 5 year plan and Bayer wants $500 a bag for corn seed and John Deere wants a $1M for a tractor sooner than later so nothing is ever fixed for the long term.
