IA/MN/WI | I enrolled 1000acres with LoamBio through Streamline Ag. It's a 5yr commitment using a $10 planterbox product. The ground is soil sampled for sequestered carbon every 2 years and we are credited the tons to an account where we can sell them to companies. Loam doesn't collect a percentage of our payment, instead they get a portion of the carbon we sequestered, I liked that component because loam shares some skin in the game, if Carbon credits are worthless they also don't make any money.
I got to talk to a grower that made a carbon credit sale this year and he made an average of $175 per acre, subtract the $20 for the product over two years, I thought $155 per acre sounded pretty good. I guess we'll see. I've spent $10 per acre on dumber things for sure. | |
