Yes you can manage both of those, but it starts to favor breaking up the pattern every so often with those expenses added in.
A neighbor feeds heifers for a dairy, he grows I’ll guess 1/4 alfalfa and 3/4 corn, gets the manure from the livestock. That seems to be a perfect rotation for our high ph high water soils.
Continuous corn had worked here for a decade or more, thrn the bugs came. Needed to break that for a couple years.
