Wisconsin | You can use floor tubes for cooling, but it's more complicated than that. It works best in combination with a water source heat pump set to A/C so you're running well water through the floor, then heating it and dumping it or recirculating through the ground loop. The floor will cool off and raise the humidity some near the floor, but the A/C will keep the dew point in check.
A lot of misinformation comes from poor installations and comparing a new shop with spray foam and in floor heat to the neighbors shop that has no insulation and a gas forced air heater. If the building is decently insulated, the floor won't be hot or bother the workers, or be as subject to overshooting the set temperature. A tighter building will always be more humid in winter than a drafty old building, regardless of the heating type. | |
