Saronville NE | No. Where i sell not near as big spread on big steers and hfrs. Maybe 20 cents. Used to be more like 10 couple yrs ago. I sold big hfrs 975 lbs 2 weeks ago for $3.1250. And big steers 971 at $3.25. But to be fair i had a big even string of hfrs and only handful of steers. I dont buy many steers because of purchase price. But presently on buying side is minimum of 50 cent up to $1 spread presently on steers and hfrs in 4s and 5s. Narrows as you get heavier. No brainer to buy the hfrs in that scenerio. Say $400 less purchase. Takes alot to make $400 up in feed and efficiency in todays cheap cog numbers.
Ran. Numbers really guickly using his numbers and my numbers adding, freight, barn commission, death loss. Im 60 cents back of his numbers. So 60 cents on 500 lbs in his scenerio is $300 more in pocket. | |
