We've never used anything but number 2. Back in the 80s and 90s we depended on 2 tractors to feed the dairy cows twice a day. We went through several cold spells that were 0 for a high and -20 for lows. With block heaters, good batteries, and starter, we never had a problem.

This question comes up every winter. It makes me wonder if others get inferior fuel. I've seen the temperatures down to -40. I've never seen fuel gel up.

You've been to -40 in southwest Ohio? Damn! Im not sure I've seen that in the UP. That's like Fairbanks AK
