So what about the 4ppm test I posted that was in CRP for 20 years and got ~1 bale an acre on a drought year(the only time it was hayed)
That's all the Nutrients that it can "make" and that was 5 years ago?

You're in North Central South Dakota. I would imagine you probably don't have to go too far to see an old wagon trail somewhere out in the landscape? You're not in the Red River valley with 40 in of rain And 6% organic matter soil .
CRP in your area To enter a CRP program and just leave it sit idle with grass. Growing is not a good tool. It's just simply recycling what is already there it's not building soil.
If we are looking to rebuild soil and turn it into something, get some cattle with rotational grazing for 3 to 5 years. That way you can manage the system that fits your farm and context the best to rebuild the soil
