My understanding of Missouri law is that payment is required to made “on demand”. I have been a licensed grain dealer in Missouri for about twenty years. We have some customers that sell often for cash flow. They can pickup a check from us as soon as they scale out. I am also aware that regional grain companies often use many different freight companies for grain that is picked off the farm. Loads can be difficult to track depending on driver. A full audit from the state is done annually and is a multi day commit on behalf of the state Department of Agriculture. This is likely not necessary. A call the state office to confirm the “payment on demand” requirement is still in effect and an explanation of this transaction should get you the results you need. A simple phone call from you to the grain company, armed with solid rules from the Department of Agriculture, should get prompt payment. My email is good, if you need more info.
