Central ND
Kind of went down this road last year for myself. Was also coming off my own 2011 build and was unsure where to head. By the time I ended up putting together somewhat of a decent build, it made more sense to buy a prebuilt.

I play a good chunk of Farm Sim, Microsoft Flight Sim, some Call of Duty, etc.

Now, I'm an Intel processor, NVIDIA graphics, and ASUS motherboard person.

So I purchased a Asus prebuilt at Bestbuy. Has an Intel i7-14700KF, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 SUPER 12GB, and 32GB of RAM. Think I spent about $1500-$1800 in Nov of 2024

In my opinion, what you have is definitely beyond what Fornite would need. VR stuff, I can't comment too much but think that should be great plenty

I highly recommend not using the 3.5" 7200RPM drive. You would be much better off going to, for somewhat of a budget sake, like a Samsung 870 Evo 2.5" SATA 2TB or something even newer than that if you feel you need the 4TB of storage total. To me, its worth the $150-$200 more for a 2.5" SD than a 3.5" HDD. Especially if you are like me and are not too good at backing up things. Can always easily add an SD later on if you find the 2- 1TB M.2 drives are not enough storage.

The old 3.5" HDDs IMO are past their prime anymore. In fact, that's what actually failed on my 2011 build was my secondary storage Seagate HDD. Not to mention they are quite a bit slower than a SD drive and WAY slower than an M.2. The Samsung Evo as my primary Windows drive in my 2011 build is still kicking.

Cant comment much on the CPU as I stick with Intel. Also not a big water cool fan but they do have their place.
