Central ND | Have a Canon MF731Cdw color laser all-in-one, print/copy/scan. Believe I've had it about 8 or 9 years now. Wireless printer.
Think I've replaced the toner cartridges 2 or 3 times over the years. I don't buy OEM ink either.
Had a few inkjet printers growing up as a kid. Seems like whenever they would sit and not get used, the print heads would clog, and we'd have to junk the printer. And yes we even tried cleaning them multiple times. Not to mention, it seemed like the ink was high priced back then.
Wife has a sublimation inkjet printer. It's setup to purge the print head every so often to keep things like that from happening now.
If you don't print very often, inkjet is not your friend.
Inkjet is the printer of choice for photos though.
A laser printer is not a good photo printer.
I would bet my overall cost per page is less with my laser printer than an inkjet.
When it comes to printers. Brother laser and/or Canon laser are my brands of choice.
