So what about the 4ppm test I posted that was in CRP for 20 years and got ~1 bale an acre on a drought year(the only time it was hayed)
That's all the Nutrients that it can "make" and that was 5 years ago?
Your 1 bale an acre removed nutrients. Only thing crp does is recycle nutrients and can build carbon. If you didn't have nutrients or biology before it was crp, it isn't going to increase on its own. Is it drained soil? If it was saturated for an extended period of time, your biology could have died off. Especially fungal. They need oxygen. Believe it or not, biology will build faster if you graze it, but you also have to put fertilizer on too because livestock will carry it off. You get some back in manure but some does walk off. You have to have both. You can't take poor soil and plant grass on it and hope it improves everything like magic. It doesn't work that way and soil DNA tests will show that to you |
