Nah. I refuse to be that cynical here. 

The Democrats actually consulted the guy who did Romney's plan in Massachusetts. Do you think Romney wanted to destroy the entire system? 

They actually crafted a "solution" that should have been most palatable to the widest range of people. Use the existing system, with some govt "stimulus" I guess for lack of a better word, to help those who couldn't afford traditional insurance. That's not how you "destroy" a system. What's actually destroying the system is the greed of the insurance companies, equipment companies, drug companies, in some cases health care companines, and all the layer after layers of "profit centers" that drains the system dry. 

What's leading the country to "socialism"(which isn't really where we're headed anyway) is that Capitalism is intent on A) Wildly enriching a few, and B) extracting absolutely as much as it can from everyone else. We just got a brief respite from this in the aftermath of WWII.
