It doesn't appear to me that very many understand the game. We are producers of a cheap commodity. The price will gravitate towards COP. There is no solution to make it easy on everyone. Boils down to the best at running their business will be successful while the majority will struggle to get by. The majority don't know their true costs and many are poor at marketing. Anyone with paid for land should not be struggling. Anyone that had some things passed to them should not be struggling. A thread a month ago or so on cost to harvest was mind blowing how many thought they could harvest an acre for an unrealistic number. Discussions on storage exposes how many don't understand costs. Most are clueless on equipment costs. Overly aggressive on rents to farm more with the thoughts that helps. Most won't sell ahead aggressively out of fear of higher prices or not having bushels. If you are needing a government handout to pay bills you need to be looking for the reason why. These prices aren't bad, many operations are being ran poorly. The government doesn't want to see failures in an important business with national implications so they subsidize but in reality in fixes nothing and the successful will continue to thrive driving more consolidation.
