Subject: RE: Spreading the wealth

I know you guys find this shocking. But I was a straight ticked Republican voter until 2016. I'm just not the whole Christian Nationalist anti social justice nonsense faux "conservative" that Republicans have become today.

It was clear at the time that the ACA was being passed, that it probably wasn't going to work as intended, because it already wasn't really working in Massachusetts. It was also pretty clear that the ACA was the "conservative" health care solution, which is why I think Obama was so exasperated at the response to it from Republicans. The insurance companies just used it as an excuse to raise prices on everybody. Then the Republicans refused to fund the exchanges starting all the way back in 2010, which made it worse and worse. I actually watched all this pretty closely. It was pretty clear the Republicans had no ideas, but just wanted to make this "solution" as painful as possible to the average voter. It was a very cynical pay, but it worked. It's also why the wanted nothing to do with the original crafting of the bill, because they wanted to demonize Obama and make it as painful as they possibly could. It was a very cynical play, but it's worked, sort of. They still haven't actually fixed anything, and won't, or maybe by accident. Not excuses. Just facts. Sorry.
