| We raise corn and soybeans in a "fringe" area. Most of our grain rides 40 miles by semi truck. We have a crop insurance claim about 1 in 3 years. Our contract barns provide a base level of income and if we do not plant much, our non family labor of two men are collecting social security and could work at a big box store if needed. In 2019 we seeded 31% of our acres with the rest in cover crop. It works here. | |
