I might consider it if it paid me whatever I’m guaranteed by 85% crop insurance.
So that would be roughly $650/acre on 200 APH ground.  AND I get to pick what acres are idled.

So you don't have to pay for seed, fertilizer, chemicals, fuel, time and you get $500 an acre and you would say "nosirreee, not for me, I need the full $650 an acre I would get on it if I spent all that money on all those inputs" even though you only take home maybe a $100 after all those inputs freakin brilliant farmers like that need to go broke for being stupid

Yeah, you're brilliant alright ****

You realize that I'm not farming trying to get 85% of my APH don't you???    100% of APH puts more money in my pocket.   120% of APH puts a LOT more money in my pocket.

Other than seed, fuel, chemicals and crop insurance almost all of my expenses are already sunk.    I need money to live, the equipment is already in the shed, the sheds and bins are already place.....   And I don't intend to leave the ground bare to grow up to weeds so there's going to be seed and chemical expense on the set aside acres as well.

Additionally, the livestock are going to need to eat so I'm going to be buying grain at "out" price instead of my cost of producing it.    Oh, and the manure is currently being produced for the 2027 crop.

I'm all for you guys idling acres for what amounts to local land rent.   I won't be joining you in the soup line.
