Milford, IL
Home cooked meals are routinely in the $3 range here. And we aren't even trying to eat cheaply.

Breakfast this morning - English muffin, 33 cents. 2 eggs, 33 cents. 3 slices bacon, 86 cents. $1.52

Dinner last night - 3x white corn tortillas = 87 cents. 6-8 oz of griled chicken breast = 87 cents. Cheese, onion, cilantro, a little sour cream, little harder to figure lets say 60 cents. Handful of dark chocolate chips for dessert, 30 cents. $2.64

I did break the budget Sunday afternoon with London Broil and grilled chicken breast and some doritos to munch on while I manned the grill. That meal was roughly $3.75
