My point is that it seems to me much of the prominence of strip tilling is based on the starter effect of fertilizer in the trench. If one is applying no fertilizer based on Rx grids, how is it possible to save any percentage over Rx broadcast? 

Our Rx grids are based on the amount necessary to build and/or maintain present levels based on 4 yr interval testing. But, if you're only applying 30-50-75%, how will you achieve the same goal?
