Subject: White Ear Tag Moss, Fungus or Algae

NEMO
Ear tag discussion below made me think about this.

A few years ago, probably over 10 years by now, all the cows with white colored Y-Tex tags developed a fungus or algae that covered and grew on the tag.

Local vet said it was every where, not just us. Plus it was only on the white tags. Red, yellow, orange or any other colored tags were fine.

It didn't matter if the white tag was new or a few years old.

Has anyone else ever experienced that?

Or was it isolated to this area?
