perryton, tx | My system is simple. I just write a number on the tag with a Y Tex paint marker, 1 through whatever, and tag them in the order that they’re born. Then I write down which number belongs to which cow and the sex of the calf in my little tally book. Recently I started writing the birth year on the back of the tag. I use either Z tags or Temple tags which use the same applicator tool. My biggest complaint is the tags I get from the vet are stamped with my name and phone number but that fades off the tag long before the info I’ve written with a paint marker
