| i`ll be the first to admit that i`m a bit of a hillbilly (term meant to be endearing) those surveys are too complicated and take too much time to figure out, i`m just flat out too lazy to mess with them. and to be honest, my operation doesn`t really matter in the scheme of things, i`m not exactly a Mcbee size empire, so I don`t mess with them. I have the feeling those filling surveys out (willingly) are suspect, driven by ego sort of like chatting it up with a gal sitting at the bar. combine yield monitor snap shots, more than actual terminal scale tickets drive the responses, because to nail down your real yield to 1/10 of a bushel requires some work.
if USDA wants a bigger pool of data, perhaps make the surveys easier, shorter maybe that would sacrifice "accuracy" but a bigger pool would off set that. and maybe compensate the time digging through the info would also help. just my 2 cents | |
