west central Iowa | We put a YTex 3 star laser printed white tag in each cow ear. The way the hair grows, nice to have 2 tags. We get tags from Temple tags. They claim their laser engraving will last life of tag. We will see. I know the pre printed from Feed store only last 5 years at most. The first # on tag is the last digit of the year cow was saved and bred. We can sort older cows to feed with heifers if need be. We can order custom tag #’s and quantities from Temple, kind of nice if you need 130 odd numbered tags for cows.
We tag calf with 3 star yellow tag with cow #. Nice for sorting pairs. Put same # on back and bottom of tag, if you sort pairs. Easy to find a calf from behind if you can read his #. | |
