Farmington, Mo | Interesting question Joel…
We didn’t see a benefit lag when we switched to not-till like others have observed…maybe a here thing?
Tile is a pretty quick improvement cycle, however, I have observed it working more consistently as time goes along. Probably similar to manure applications…50% improvement year 1, 30% improvement year 2, etc.
Grid sampling, VR lime and P/K applications. It’s amazing how variable to test results, as well as the application recommendations within a single field can be.
Increasing Calcium/decreasing Magnesium. We are in an area where mine tailings were free for many decades. Great product except for the fact it was Dolomite…what resulted was excessive magnesium test levels, low pH and low calcium. I have seen some success in lowering mag base saturation by applying high calcium lime and applying sulfate sulfer…yield improvements have partly been from AMS more than I think we realize!
May not be widely applicable, but has helped us here. | |
