I prefer chopping to baleing and bagging. I need 2 other guys to be efficient at chopping hay but can do bales myself. I hire the wrapper but it is by far cheaper to chop and make a pile than to wrap the hay. Feeding is not an issue and makes the cows easier to move. Garvo is right about chopping is the way to go. To keep spoilage to a minimum make the pile narrow and cover it. Then roll up the plastic when you need feed and roll back down when done and throw 3 or 4 tires to keep the plastic down. You can use a pipe to roll the plastic on or a long 2x4 may work also. Very little spoilage doing this and is much cheaper than bagging.
