If you already have the tmr mixer forget the feeders. Single strand about hip height and good and hot and just dump it out underneath it, very little waste, everybody gets a shot at feed and you can always move the strand around. Depending on what we’re feeding if the haylage is really high quality we’ll include a bale if wheat straw, just seems to keep them more satisfied. Have one farm where we usually figure feeding tmr to may/june pairs for Nov/Dec. Corn silage, haylage and wheat straw, cows really milk and put condition on, calves really grow and wean really easy because they don’t have a feed adjustment.
