North Central Indiana
Zero chance I’m giving a cost breakdown to a cash rent landlord. Soil test info, for sure. We even give spread maps and yield maps. But why you would feel entitled to their cost of production is crazy. If it’s “too high” in your opinion it sounds like you’d want to tell them how to operate. My guess is if it was “too low” in your opinion you’d raise your rent. You sound like that type of guy. Also how many cash rent landlords do you have that are at all versed in what current actual costs are at the local coop to even say if you’re “overspending the $100” let alone different seed dealers, chemical wholesalers, bulk fertilizer suppliers, equipment parts, labor, fuel, insurance, trucking, etc etc etc. and then also competent enough in farm practices to advise you on chemical programs that would be as effective while being cheaper and picking out good cheaper seed varieties. You sound like a nightmare. Better just keep farming it
