As alluded to, numbers makes all the difference in my mind, for us at 60 cows April freshening I see no issues with preplaced dry bales and bale grazing, when you get bigger herds then haylage/cornsilage makes more sense to me, either you are going want to limit feed them a bit or make it at later stage of maturity then the dairy guys or na bit of both. Or little better haylage limit fed with cornstalks may work if they will eat the corn stalks or will they stand there and beller waiting for the next welfare payment (feed wagon or feeding of haylage) ????
