Subject: RE: Lets Talk About Feeding Cows in Feedlots

In the last year a lot of guys that background calves have been buying heifers - breeding them - feeding them hard and are now trying to sell them. What are the odds a heifer purchased at 3-500lbs in May that now weighs 900-1000 and is eight months bred is going to a - have a calf unassisted b- raise a calf c - breed back on time????

I saw a set sell Saturday night that were crap heifers to start with gobs of fat across their tail head brought $4500+, I'd wager half will need pulled.

I know of a guy that cut the nuts off his "calving ease Angus bull" the day they pull him off the heifers and sold him as a steer.

If you own a calf jack be very careful who's calls you answer for the next 120 days.
