My cows are fed very little hay. They are on bagged chopped rye and corn silage right now. Soon they will be on chopped first cutting grass / alfalfa and corn silage. Rye double cropped to beans makes cheap feed. Feeding silage has basically zero waste and so much better than baling hay all summer.
