Holland, Indiana (SW IN) | BUT I was taught in an agronomy class at Purdue 1975 and truly believe on potash removal + 20# as cost of doing business
So if you take no crop off the field better put on 33# of 0-0-60 just to keep up
----don't know about the new removal recommendations
Switching to the new rec would save us $20 an acre VS the old
Saving $50K is tempting BUT not at the cost of loosing yield
$50K is 2 bu of soybeans an acre extra
"all soybeans this year" will spend $135 an acre P,K,S
(old for soybeans .8 for the P 1.4 plus 20# an acre)
Corn old .37 per bu P .27 plus 20# an acre
Since we own or very sold rent on our land
We fertilize for 90 Bu soybeans removal
250-275 Bu corn removal and always add 20# of K
We farm some very marginal land CEC 5-8
think Ph 6.5+ , cover crops, and applying P,K,S at removal makes for great yields
Just saying spent a day last week putting our fertilizer needs together
Dan
Grid sampled 2 ac grids our soil tests are good but not off the chart great ----Ph 6.5 or a ton of lime goes on
IF we have a really bad year or prices very low can get by with 100 Dap 100 0-0-60 and 100 Ammonium sulfate OR nothing
