U of I (illinois) has done some adjusting down of nutrient removal sometime less than 10 years ago. I don’t believe it was that aggressive though.

Your info would explain why many are applying less and still gaining yield within the typical yield curve gain.

In all my years in the seed business though I don’t remember ever talking to a plant breeder and them saying they were breeding corn to be more efficient in P and K use/removal.


It’s just an indirect effect of breeding for yield stability, which every plant breeder is breeding for.
