Subject: RE: Flex Rent vs Govt Payments

20 miles west of Indianapolis Indiana
I asked the local FSA office if a landlord can get part of any usda payments while still being 100% cash rent. I was told No.

I asked this because I have a 1/3-2/3 lease I would like to get converted to cash rent and I know the landlord is going to bring up the govt payments because they just got a small arc payment and will get their portion of the bridge coming up.

This is all tough to be fair in all reality when you are trying your best to and not go broke in the process

In regards to your landlords thoughts, the govt payments have more of an effect on suppliers holding their cost higher because of cash being available than affecting the cash price at the elevator. In reality, there’s talk from elevators not likening the govt payments put the farmer in a stronger position then they should be and allows them to hold onto grain till a better bid comes along.
