| The great oil debate! I agree with those who prefer a shorter inverval. We had a 2012 F150 3.5 Gen 1 Ecoboost and the local-national automotive podcast advised me that 3,500 miles was a better inverval than 5,000 miles on it based on what they saw coming through their shop. We replaced it with a new F350 Powerstroke and considering it takes 15 quarts, I think I'll change at 5,000 miles and probably send in a few oil samples to get some real world information and adjust accordingly. Ford Ecoboost engines run their cam phasers off oil pressure and its critical not to sludge up the oil passages, and more frequent oil changes makes sense with engines like that. | |
