Near Intersection of I-35 & I-90 Southern Mn. | Note in the picture above that the Ag Leader Steady Steer motor is mounted towards the top of the steering wheel. In this location it is out of the way although it may block the view of some of the dash. In my Deere Combine, I have the Steady Steer assembly mounted on the bottom of the steering wheel. This doesn't change the clearance for the top or sides and yet doesn't get in my way. Note that the drive is a positive drive underneath the steering wheel rather than the foam wheel that was used on the first EZ-Steer models.
The motor can easily be removed from its holder in the tractor shown and installed in a similar holder in his combine. The controller has the ability to remember the settings for the tractor and combine separately so once calibrated, it is easy to move the motor and SCM from the tractor to the combine. Steady Steer can be engaged via an icon on the display or by a remote momentary button. Steering can be disengaged by turning the wheel, using the screen Icon or clicking the engage switch.
Here's my homemade engage/disengage switch in my combine.
