Subject: RE: Question for tommy5088 and other Fire Departments

Townsend, Montana
I'm on the younger side but I like horsepower and big block Chevies in particular. Our first out structure engine is an early 90's Topkick with a 454 in front of a 5 and a 2 with a short 4th. Most people on the department cuss it and can't make it go anywhere. While I agree that it's a bit under powered I get along with it just fine.

But the amount of abuse that it receives makes me cringe. Not a synchro left in the transmission after 25K miles. And I'm kind of surprised that it hasn't thrown a rod on many occasions.

Doesn't have anything to do with incident response, just a lack of experience with a basic 5 and a 2.
