Pittsburg, Kansas | We really had no intention of ever shutting the farm down. I had always told the employees as long as we stay profitable we will keep farming.
But I changed my mind. Things were just getting too close to the edge. We were really keeping the farm going for their benefit as well as our daughter. But got to thinking about it and all employees would have job offers immediately. And they did.
My daughter was the main one that suffered finding a job as good as the farm. But she got 150 acres free and clear out of the wrap up that she rents out on shares, so she did ok too.
